Tomorrow (or some say tonight) will be day (night) when the Houseguests are finally revealed. Like every year as soon as the cast list drops I will try to find as much information as possible about each person.

I’m also going to try and blog a bit more about the things we’ve learned the past couple of days.

“I’m a Celebrity…Get me Out Of Here!” has a new cast member! The newest addition to the cast is actor Lou Diamond Phillips star of such films as La Bamba, Stand and Deliver and Young Guns! He joins an already unique cast which includes The Hills stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, actor Stephen Baldwin, Supermodel Janice Dickinson, former NBA player John Salley, former American Idol contestant Sanjaya and former WWE Diva Torrie Wilson.

Phillips career has seen him in movies and television (Numb3rs, The George Lopez Show) but this will be his first venture into reality TV,  especially when you consider his fellow cast members have  prior experience in the world of reality television.  But with his roles in action films such as Young Guns as well as his guest starring role on 24, Phillips should be ready for the endurance challenges that will come before him on the show.

Catch Phillips and the rest of the cast on I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here! when it airs on June 1st at 8 p.m. on NBC.

The Fall 2008/Spring 2009 television schedule is starting to wind down. We are in the home stretch for many of the shows we all love to watch. Last week “The Amazing Race” ended it season, and this week “Survivor” ended theirs. But, now what?

Don’t fret! There are two amazing Reality TV programs that are on the horizon that we will be covering wall-to-wall here on RealityFire!

First up is a revival of sorts - “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here” switched networks to NBC and will begin airing in two weeks. The format of the show has changed to match the international versions. When it was on ABC it only aired once a week. The new format calls for it to be aired 4 nights a week - with portions of the show aired live each night. While I usually tend to shy away from celebrity-based reality shows I am going to follow this one because it will closely resemble two of my favorite reality tv programs, Survivor and “Big Brother.”

Speaking of Big Brother, the new season is around the corner! Big Brother 11 is set to begin airing in July for two and half months!

James “JT” Thomas Jr., a 24-year-old cattle rancher who grew up in Samson and lives in Mobile, won the $1 million prize on “Survivor: Tocantins” Sunday night.

A tough competitor throughout the 39-day competition in the wilds of Brazil, Thomas began the night in the final four, won both immunity challenges and went into the final two without having to face a vote.

“The Amazing Race” season 14 had its finale on Sunday, May 10 with three remaining teams. Lawyer siblings, Tammy and Victor, literally run for their lives against mother-son Margie and Luke as well as cheerleaders Jamie and Cara.

All the three teams departed from Beijing, China and traveled to Maui, Hawaii on the same flight. Thus everybody got the same chance to win the race. Once in the destination, they have to go to a beach and season a 140-pound pig before carrying it with only a pole as a tool. The journey to lift the pig was proven tough as the weight and the few hundred yards under the sun became a huge challenge for some of them. Margie and Luke arrived first and headed to McGregor Point to hop on a Jet Ski to find their next clue among many buoys.

The finale of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice wrapped up on Sunday night with comedian Joan Rivers besting poker pro Annie Duke. Rivers’ charity, God’s Love We Deliver, will receive $250,000 plus money raised earlier in the season.

The setting of the live three hour Celebrity Apprentice finale was the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. The competition began on March 1st with 16 contestants, eight men and eight women. Ten weeks later, Rivers emerged as its champion. After West Coast Choppers CEO Jesse James and Playboy Playmate of the Year Brande Roderick were fired last week, Rivers and Duke returned to their suite in Trump Towers. The duo was anything but pleasant to each other, with Rivers summing the mood up, “I think you’re really smart. I think you’re going to be fabulous competition, but we don’t have to be best friends.”

“I’ve seen it all. I’ve worked with many, many, many big strong burly wrestlers that are kind of gross so nothing really grosses me out either.”

“I feel like I’m ready for anything at this time but you know you might want to talk to me again when I get out in the middle of the jungle.”

“Not a lot scares me. I don’t think ill be much of a priss. I can handle it.”

About The Show:

Series Premiere, Monday, June 1st 8/7c

It’s the ultimate Swiss Family Robinson as ten celebrities are dropped into the heart of the jungle to face fun and comedic challenges designed to test their survival skills. America is the puppet master, controlling their favorite celebrities by putting them into challenges and tasks to win food, supplies and luxury items. In each episode, friendships will be tested, hilarity will ensue and viewers will decide which celebrities stay or go. The last remaining star will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle, winning a substantial cash prize for their favorite charity.

America has never seen a show like this before. Television has never been programmed like this before. Don’t miss a minute of this ultimate three-week event.

In a unique scheduling move, “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” will air at 8 p.m. over four weeks in June. The new series will debut as a two-hour television event on Monday, June 1 (8-10 p.m. ET) and will follow with broadcasts on Mondays through Thursdays (8-9 p.m. ET) for the first three weeks. During the fourth week of June, the series will be telecast Monday through Wednesday (8-9 p.m. ET) with the finale on Wednesday, June 24 (8-9 p.m. ET).

NBC has made it official! “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here” will air 4 nights a week during the month of June , one month before Big Brother 11 gets it start on CBS.

Here is the official description from NBC:

“I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” is the ultimate Swiss Family Robinson, as ten celebrities are dropped into the heart of the jungle to face fun and comedic challenges designed to test their survival skills. The participating celebrities will be announced at a later date. The series is produced by Granada America.

“I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” will air Monday through Thursdays for the first three weeks beginning June 1st (8-9 p.m. ET) and during the fourth week of June, the series will be telecast Monday through Wednesday (8-9 p.m. ET) with the finale on Wednesday, June 24 (8-9 p.m. ET).

Basically “I’m a Celebrity” is a hybrid of Survivor and Big Brother International. It should be interesting how the ratings do for NBC as this will be dominating their schedule for the month of June. I’m sure if it’s successful it will come back next year against Big Brother itself!

RealityFire.com Update!

Welcome to the new design! I created this design way back in October when I last posted here and put on the back burner as other things in my life became a higher priority. Now that we are nearly 100 days away from the premiere of Big Brother 11 I thought I might as well get things rolling again.

I have many exciting new ideas that I’m going to implement this year so please return in the next couple of months and decide to choose RealityFire as your new Big Brother source.

While I was gone the site received 13,000 unapproved spam messages!  Jeesh! I had to go into the database manually to delete them all. Let that be a note to anyone else who doesn’t keep up with sites. I might have deleted some actual posts, so I am sorry if that happened.

What happened to the forums!?

There is no need for me to duplicate the success of other websites. So, I will be linking to a forum that I regularly participate in, Jokers Updates. I’ve come to know Jokerette and most of the Joker’s staff over the past year and think they deserve every damn user in the world. So go there, discuss away, then come back here for my insightful, witty, charming, and absolutely annoying commentary and news. Ok?

(BTW - I am thundercat2 over on the jokers message forums.)

What has happened in the World of Big Brother since I last posted?

Ok, so I’ve had this rule forever. What the houseguests do in their private lives is their own business. I’m not a huge fan of gossip websites that stalk these average people after the show. I find it distasteful, and distracting. Sure there are rapid fanatic types who need their Chiara (Big Brother 3) updates, but seriously, enough is enough.

That being said here are a few things that former houseguests have said publically shared (paraphrasing horribly btw).

- Dan (Big Brother 10) is doing motivational speaking. He broke up with his girlfriend Monica. And there have been many innocent encounters with Keesha.

- Keesha (Big Brother 10) has an off again/on again relationship with her boyfriend. Not sure exactly what that is about. Also, her and Renny have had a falling out. Keesha solicited her fans to voter her as Hooters girl of the year.

-Renny (Big Brother 10 ) has tried to sell everything in her closet and her neighbor’s closet on ebay.

- Jerry (Big Brother 10 ) has throat cancer and is getting treatment. I pray for a speedy recovery for him!

- Steven (Big Brother 10) has visited Kuwait, and plans on visiting Iraq very soon.

- Memphis (Big Brother 10) traded his car in for money. If you didn’t hear the story basically CBS didn’t own the car, so they settled on a cash prize instead. He is still giving out signatures to people I guess.

- April and Bryan “Ollie” (Big Brother 10) are still a couple. They both live in Arizona.

Speaking of couples..

- Jen and Nick (Big Brother 8) are still together too.

Big Brother Australia:

The update for the next season is Big Brother is this: There isn’t going to be one this year. As you know Ten ended the current adaptation of Big Brother. At the time the hosts and everyone involved said that Big Brother would eventually be back, just not for a couple of years. This may turn out to be true. The latest rumor is that there might be a Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack series that would debut in 2010.

Big Brother UK:

Jane Goody passed away due to cancer.  She was a contestant on three Big Brother series, two set in the UK and one in India. Her death was publicized on international news.

Every year there are rumors of Big Brother UK’s demise - and that holds true this year as well. Everyone involved is saying that this year will be the last, but that is yet to be seen. I’m still holding out hope that they will convert to a US format which would be more successful in the UK.

As for rumors for Big Brother 11… expect the unexpected and same mix of casting from Big Brother 10.

Yes, neither am I! Luckily for us we get to wait many more months until the next edition of Big Brother. Currently, the auditions are supposed to start picking up in early spring with the cast be finalized sometime in the middle of June. We probably won’t get much about spoilers about house theme until about the sametime.

This blog is going to get a makeover in the next couple months in anticipation for the next season. So get ready for that…

Until then, Lates Peeps!

Joe
